Chaste Tree
The berries of this aromatic wayside bush found in southern Europe have a tradition name reflects a slight anti-estrogen effect which can cool passion; perhaps this property may account for its other common name called Monk;s Pepper.
Many menstrual problems are a result of an excess of estrogen, possibly due to use of the contraceptive pill or environmental pollution. Small doses of chaste tree can re-balance the hormones and reduce some of the symptoms of PMS, menopausal change, infertility, postnatal depression and irregular periods. It also increases milk production after birth. altogether it is a soothing and much appreciated plant.
Application:
Dried ripe fruits
10-20 drops of tincture taken first thing in the morning.
